Tips for Improving Your Business Travel Experience

Blog

If you are constantly having to travel for business, you might find it to be tiresome and frustrating after awhile. It is hard to be comfortable while you are travelling, so it is important you do everything you can to make the experience of business travel pleasant. Here are some tips for improving your overall business travel experience.

1. Build a Relationship With Your Driver

Your company likely has a set limousine service or driver company that they prefer you to use in order to make sure that compensating you for travel expenses is as easy as possible. Many of these companies will allow you to request specific drivers if they are available. If you find yourself in the same location for business many times, try to get the same driver to take you where you need to go. A limo driver who knows the places where you frequently visit while you are travelling and who knows what kind of time constraints you are under will be able to provide much better service than a limo driver to whom you have never spoken. Talk to the person who is driving your car and see if their availability matches yours and then request them on a regular basis. This will help you build a relationship with a driver that you know that you can trust to take care of your needs.

2. Use Compression Bags for Packing

There is nothing more frustrating than to find that you need something that you forgot to bring on a trip. However, the number of bags that you are allowed to check will constrain the amount of items that you can bring with you on a business trip. In order to decrease the chances that you will forget something, you need to be sure that you increase the amount of personal items that you can bring. You can use compression bags to make your clothes take up less room in your bag in order to free it up for other items, such as the cologne that's going to let you go into a business meeting feeling more confident.

3. Don't Take Your Sleeping Medication Too Early

Finally, if you need to take a plane or a bus to a location, don't take your sleeping medication until you are firmly in your seat. The reason for this is that something might go wrong in the plane or bus terminal and you might need to switch flights. You don't want to do that while fighting to stay awake after your medication has kicked in.
